Joanna Dabrowski


Joanna Dabrowski is a multidisciplinary artist who holds an MFA from the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. Joanna studied theatre arts working at the Baltic State Opera, Theatre Humbug, Theatre “Ą”, Theatre Miniature in Gdansk and the State Puppet Theatre in Olsztyn. She emigrated to Canada in 1985. After arriving in Toronto, Joanna worked as a set and costume designer for theatre and film. She has worked with the Lampoon Puppet Theatre, Jewish Art Production, Toronto Sinfonietta, the Salon Of Poetry, Music And Theatre, and ATLAS STAGE PRODUCTIONS. She has participated in over forty stage productions over the years. Having relocated her studio to Collingwood in 2017, Joanna has been working on a series of large format paintings. Her most recent body of sculptural work informed by her extensive experience as a puppet designer.
